General Club
Information
The Mundelein Mustang Swim
Club (MMSC) is a swim team offering competitive, stroke
development, and social opportunities for children ages 6-18 in
Mundelein and surrounding communities. Children are required
to be evaluated by a coach to determine their readiness for
the team, and should have a desire to compete in age and
ability-appropriate swim meets before joining.
As a member of USA
Swimming, Inc. and Illinois Swimming, Inc., swimmers participate in
sanctioned meets throughout the season. MMSC is also a member
of the Northwest Illinois Swim Conference, which hosts a Conference
Championship meet for all swimmers at the end of each
season.
The Fall/Winter
Season runs from September through March, while the Spring/Summer
season runs from May through July. Practices are conducted
according to the swimmer’s ability and age, and are offered
four to six days per week depending on the practice group.
There is no mandatory practice requirement, but frequent attendance
is encouraged and will be rewarded with greater success by the
swimmer. Practices are conducted between the hours of
5:45-9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as Saturday
mornings. Early morning practices are also offered in
the summer for certain practice groups.
New swimmers must attend a
coach evaluation to determine placement in to practice
groups. Swimmers should be present at the pool with a
swimsuit, goggles, towel and swim cap (if needed) The evaluation is
very brief. The swimmer will typically be asked to perform
one length (25 yards) of freestyle (front crawl) and one length
backstroke.
Prospective members may
